- It foresees the implementation of beekeeping, as well as the installation of bird feeders and viewpoints, insect hotels and a special hunting fence to facilitate ecological corridors for the local fauna.
- Located in Navarra, the site has been chosen on the basis of solid internal standards in order to achieve optimum integration into the environment, with important measures to favor its biodiversity.
- At the end of its useful life, the plant will be dismantled, returning the land to its original situation prior to the construction of the facility, making the temporary occupation of the land 100% reversible.
- There are already more than 40 projects interested in the process of obtaining the Certificate, which recognizes projects carried out under the best criteria of social and environmental integration.
Madrid, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 | Esparity Solar's Cordovilla project, in Navarra, has obtained the UNEF Certificate of Excellence for Sustainability and Biodiversity Conservation in photovoltaic plants, which recognizes projects carried out under the best social and environmental integration criteria.
As it is a project in the development phase, it has passed the CERE audit as an independent certifier, although the Seal is preliminary because in a second phase, after construction, the definitive certificate will be issued once the on-site evaluation of the plant is carried out and it is verified that the project has been developed on the basis of the documentation previously provided.
Cordovilla will be located in the town of Ibargoiti, in Navarra, and the site has been chosen on the basis of solid internal standards in order to achieve optimum integration into the environment. Esparity Solar has designed the facility incorporating environmental and socioeconomic measures. On the one hand, it foresees the implementation of beekeeping, as well as the installation of bird feeders and viewpoints, insect hotels and a special hunting fence to provide ecological corridors for the local fauna.
On the other hand, it plans to have suppliers from local companies and estimates that it will generate more than 500 jobs during its construction phase, prioritizing local employment, in addition to what it will contribute to the City Council through taxes. Esparity Solar is also committed to dismantling the plant at the end of its useful life, returning the land to its original state prior to the plant's construction, so that the temporary occupation of the land by the plant will be 100% reversible.
"This certification is another step forward in the sector's commitment to biodiversity and to the local communities where its projects are located. UNEF's wish is that all projects are built with these criteria of excellence. Photovoltaic plants are an opportunity for biodiversity and the socioeconomic improvement of the municipalities and the population of the places where they are installed," said Rafael Benjumea, President of UNEF.
There are already more than 40 projects interested in the process of obtaining the Certificate. The 'PSFV Campos de Levante' project, located in the province of Valencia, of Falck Renewables, was the first to obtain the preliminary UNEF Certificate of Excellence for Sustainability and Biodiversity Conservation in Photovoltaic Plants last July, and the 'Andévalo' project in Huelva, of Iberdrola, the first to obtain it already built and in operation.
About UNEF
The Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) is the industry association for photovoltaic solar energy in Spain. Made up of more than 600 companies, entities and groups from the entire technology value chain, it represents more than 90% of the sector's activity in Spain and brings together practically all of them: producers, installers, engineering firms, manufacturers of raw materials, modules and components, distributors and consultants. UNEF also holds the presidency and co-secretariat of FOTOPLAT, the Spanish photovoltaic technology platform. The platform brings together universities, research centers and leading companies in photovoltaic R&D in Spain.
